Senior Blake Hooker is the male athlete of the week! He is currently ranked 14th on the Iwanamaker app for 4A Western Slope in his region. He averages a score of 85, but his personal best was a 75. Blake Hooker has been a varsity golfer for the past 3 years. In his junior season, he represented Palisade High School at regionals but didn't stop there. He persevered through a tough round and found himself on his way to the state tournament.
Blake has been playing golf since he was 6 years old. That is 12 years spent on the golf course. “I got into playing golf because of my pappa, he taught me at a young age because he had no one to play with.” Blake's grandpa has been one of his biggest supporters on and off of the course. Blake is inspired by “Rickie Fowler, a professional golfer because of his behavior on and off of the course.” When asked what he looks forward to most as the season progresses he replied “I look forward to the bonds I will make with the kids on the team, but most importantly the ones I have already created. I have made friends that I will have for a lifetime.” Outside of golf Blake enjoys working on his trucks and his tractors. Wish Blake good luck as he goes on to tackle the Gunnison golf course Friday September 2nd.
