Weekend Volleyball Tournament Succsess or Setback
By: Dakota Hatcher
The Palisade Volleyball team just had a four-game tournament in Denver. They ended 2-2 for the tournament. The first team they played over the weekend was a close game against Dakota Ridge beating them 2-1 with the first 2 sets being within 5 points of each other and the last set being a blowout by Palisade. The second game was against Ponderosa which Palisade lost 2-0. Lauren Harden was asked about the second said “We struggled with our communication as a team and we also struggled with keeping our mistakes to a minimum.” Those were her thoughts on the third game against Green Mountain which Green Mountain won 3-0 with very close sets. The last game of the tournament was against Monarch, Lauren Harden said “By that point, we had our heads straight.” Oh, boy was she right because Palisade won that game 3-0 winning every set by at least 7. At the end of the weekend, there were a lot of mixed thoughts about how the weekend went. A sophomore Grace Mcanany expressed her thoughts about the weekend, “I felt like it was a success, we learned a lot and I feel like we just got better as a team we just have a lot of room to grow.” Grace when asked if she thought the team played well said, “I think we could have done a lot better… In those 2 games that we lost, I feel like we could have wanted it more.” Overall the team did excellent and while both happy and somewhat disappointed in themselves they are grateful for their experience and excited to grow as a team throughout the rest of their season.
