This week for our Athletes of the Week series, we decided to switch it up a little. Instead of choosing an athlete, we chose a theater student. Blake Larson, a sophomore here at Palisade High School, is a part of the play production. He was asked how long he has been in the play production for. He replied, “I have been doing theater with Palisade since my freshman year and I started out with the play Murder Most Foul. Before high school I have been doing theater since I was seven years old, in which I did a lot of community theater.” After Blake was asked what got him into theater he said, “At a young age you are always trying to find hobbies and stuff. I tried a lot of sports, dance, and then I heard about theater. I like being on stage after dancing, and I tried it out and I was hooked. It is something that has always been in my life.” Blake expressed his love for theater and said, “I love being on stage. Theater is entertaining and I enjoy entertaining people and making people laugh. It is really fun to be on stage and convey emotions that aren’t yours in some type of way. You get to put on a different personality and showcase everything that you are able to do.” Outside of theater Blake is interested in fashion. He said, “It is a lot of fun behind the scenes to put together the costumes. I am excited to get to do that next year.” After Blake was asked who his biggest inspiration is he responded with, “My dad. He showed me that if you work hard towards a goal you can reach it. If I have something set in my mind, I am able to get it because I keep working towards it.” Lastly, Blake was asked what advice he would give to a beginner actor. Blake said, “Be bold. Make scary choices because it might pay off. You just have to be willing to take a chance and be yourself.”
After a successful year of theater, Blake is excited to see what next year has for him.
