Our Palisade Winter Guard has been hard at work during their winter season, working on their skills and performance. This past weekend, Saturday, February 25, our team competed at Columbine High School against many schools and several divisions from all across Colorado. Palisade High School is currently in 3rd place for our division. The guard performed a choirs version of You Will Be Found from the musical Dear Evan Hansen. The piece is meant to bring awareness to individuals who are struggling with depression and suicide. Samuel Casetta is a senior member of the Palisade winter guard. He started competing with the guard his sophomore year. “Being able to perform is an amazing experience that I wouldn’t trade for anything, but the long bus rides are always a pain.” Cassesta says.
Our guard currently has 17 active members, starting their season immediately after marching band in late October. The Palisade guard competed against five other schools in their division, ending with a final score of 63.06, making them third place. “I love the confidence one gains as they develop impressive skills and the family you find within your team. The competitions I feel really bring us closer together and more like family.” Casseta says. The team’s next competition is Saturday, May 4th at Palisade high-school, against our entire division along with some of the lower divisions performing and competing against each other. Make sure to support the hard-working Palisade Winter Guard for the rest of their season. Go Bulldogs!
