The crazy train ride has finally ended. On February 1, the Paranoid singer Ozzy Osbourne posted a message on social media stating: “I have now come to the realization that I’m not physically capable of doing my upcoming European/UK tour dates.” This was devastating news for all fans, but it is understood why The Prince of Darkness needs to rest. In 2019, Osbourne fell at his home in Los Angeles which brought up past injuries from a 2003 ATV accident and required him to have surgery. During this time, he was also diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and has been battling various health problems. The 74-year-old rockstar admitted that he was still struggling with his health seven months after undergoing a spinal surgery that saved him from paralysis and his ongoing battle with Parkinson’s. His social media message stated: “My one and only purpose during this time has been to get back on stage. . . However, after three operations, stem cell treatments, endless physical therapy sessions, and most recently groundbreaking Cybernetics (HAL) Treatment, my body is still physically weak.” He then mentioned at the end of his statement that all tickets will be refunded. Ozzy’s last tour show was in December 2018, where he performed at Ozzfest in Inglewood as part of a farewell tour, No More Tours 2. He rose to fame as the lead singer of one of the first metal bands Black Sabbath and has since sold more than 100 million albums worldwide. His recent album Patient Number 9 won a Grammy for Best Rock Album just this year. Although he may not be on the stage, Ozzy is still winning and sharing music everywhere. Hopefully the Grammy has lifted the rockstar’s spirits as he battles with his health problems. “It’s unfortunate the Prince of Darkness had to retire,” says long-time Ozzy-lover Jory Sorensen, “but he needs to do what’s best and we will always have his music.” Whether it be snorting ants with famous rock band Motley Crue or biting the head off of a bat in the midst of a show, Osbourne has definitely had one of the craziest and most memorable careers in rock history.
