February the 6th to the 10th is the week where we celebrate the hard work of the counselors within the U.S. school system. Our counselors here at Palisade High School are very important and deserve to be recognized for their hard work and dedication to not only their job but keeping our students safe and mentally healthy. The counselors here at Palisade are Misty Sellden, Meghan Ventling, and Jon Burke. Props to them for making our school a safe place for all students. School counselors help students by listening to their concerns about academics, emotional, or social issues. They also help students plan and shape their future. They try to maximize the student's success and promote equity for all students. If you are ever in need of help or just need someone to listen to you, go to your counselor. Even if it's something small, it feels good to let it out and to get some advice. No matter what you say or do they will not judge you and will try to find the best solution to help you. School counselors take their job seriously and are a very important part of a school. They are the reason students have a healthy mind and will help them no matter what condition they’re in. Ex-counselor at Boise State University T.J Morman stated “It’s a great job to have, I love having the opportunity to be a safe space for students, and helping those in need.” School counselors are so important to the school system.
