This week we have three Palisade swim girls for our athletes of the week. One of these female athletes is senior and varsity swimmer, Olivia Langner.
Three senior girls on Palisade’s varsity swim team qualified for state and this is a huge accomplishment for them. These girls are Olivia Langner, Amara Nowak, and Mallory Cawood. Olivia Langner tells us that, “I swam when I was younger for a local team, but this is my first year swimming for the high school team.” For this being Olivia’s first year on a high school swim team, making it to state is a huge accomplishment for her. Olivia says her favorite thing about being a part of swim is “the team.” She continues to say, “They are so much fun and always make me laugh.” We asked Olivia what she enjoys doing outside of school. She said, “Outside of school I love to do things outdoors like run, hike, bike, ski, and more.” Most high school athletes always have an inspiration to encourage them through the rough moments in sports. We asked Olivia who her biggest inspiration is. She responded with, “I think that my fellow teammates are my biggest inspiration, they always push me to be better.” We asked Olivia what her biggest swimming accomplishment is and she responded with, “I’m not sure what my biggest accomplishment is, I think I am just really happy to make it to state this year.” Olivia’s advice to a freshman swimmer would be, “Just enjoy every moment because it all goes so fast, but the memories you make last forever.” As this is Olivia’s last year of high school, she plans to attend CMU this fall to study biology. What Olivia will miss most about the swim team is, “The friends that I have made, especially from other schools because I know I won’t get to see them as much.”
Congratulations to Olivia Langner for making state this year and good luck to her with her future plans!
