This week we don’t just have one, we don’t just have two, but we have three senior swim girls who have qualified for state! Our senior girls, Mallory Cawood, Amara Nowak, and Olivia Langer, have all been able to qualify and have gone this week to state. We were able to speak with Mallory Cawood.
When we talked to Mallory we asked her how long she has been swimming and her favorite thing about it, “I swim on the varsity team. I’ve been swimming since I was 8 or 9. I originally did gymnastics but I got injured so I started swimming. I’ve been swimming for palisade all 4 years of high school. My favorite thing about the sport is the community and how much I've learned about myself.” We also asked her who her biggest inspiration is, “My biggest inspiration is my mom. She’s very hardworking and makes me a better person, I strive to be the kind of person she is.” Interviewing her we were able to ask what she thought to be her most significant accomplishments in swimming and some advice she has, “My greatest accomplishments in swimming have been qualifying for state all four years and the past two years placing in all-conference. My advice for other girls on the team would be to find something you love to do and share that love with other people. The community and relationships you create in sports are so unique and important.”
With her ending off her senior year going to state and swimming is the definition of going out with a big splash! Make sure to check in with her and see how she’s feeling ending this season.
