After a huge snowstorm that gave D51 a snow day, another enormous system is on course for Colorado. Winter storm warnings have been issued across the State, with some areas expecting almost 3 feet!
All over the nation, people are buckling down and preparing to stay home for the next few days. In Grand Junction, a wind advisory has been put in place until Thursday night, with the city warning citizens to strap down any loose items and be cautious of wind blowing over things like trees and telephone poles. Up on top of Grand Mesa, there is a winter storm warning, where officials are warning people of 1-2 feet of snow and advising them to stay home as travel will be extremely difficult with 50-60 mile per hour winds and all the snow.
However, even with all these advisories, chances of snow in the Valley seem low. Temperatures have been high the last few days and we might just see rain and wind for the next few days. Even with the slim chance of snow, students are still hoping for yet another snow day. I spoke to Carson Johnson, a Junior at PHS, he said, “I’d really like to get another snow day, last time I went skiing with some friends, so another day like that would be awesome.” Many like Carson might even be looking forward to getting up to Powderhorn this weekend to ski in some of the best powder of the year.
No matter how you are hoping to spend the snowstorm, be sure to stay safe and stay warm!
