He shoots, and he scores! This week we have had the opportunity to talk to Hunter Howard, a freshman for this week's athlete of the week. Hunter plays basketball as a point guard in the winter, and baseball where he can play anywhere on the field in the spring. Even though baseball is his primary sport he has a passion for basketball as well.
When we were interviewing Hunter we asked him how long he had been playing basketball and how he got into the sport, “I have been playing basketball since I was in the third grade I think, and I think I saw it on tv and I asked my dad if he could sign me up and I just kept playing from there.” We asked how he likes his experience as a first-time player on the Palisade boys basketball team, “I really like it. I really like the coaches and teammates. And it is just a really fun environment to be in.” Hunter also told us his favorite thing about basketball, “I like how it is just a fast-paced game. Like baseball is slow-paced. But with basketball, there is always something going on.” We asked Hunter if he could share what he is most proud of this basketball season, “I think towards the last little 6-7 game stretch to end the year I kinda started to really be confident in the role which made me really confident going into next year.” We asked if he thought his team had a good team atmosphere, “Yeah I think we do. I think we are really close to each other and Coach Cory really provides that for us which is great.”
With our boys basketball season coming to an end we are sad to see the seniors go but excited to see what our freshmen this year can accomplish in their upcoming season. Hunter Howard is not only looking forward to playing but dominating!
