Whether it be learning about management, journalism, or business, FBLA club members showed up all their competitors at this year's District Competition. Schools from all over the valley, including Fruita, Junction, Central, Meeker, and more attended the competition. FBLA, aka Future Business Leaders of America, opens the door for students who want to experience the business lifestyle. They each take an online test with topics relating to business and also a group project, where they present in front of a series of judges. If they place in the top 4 for the group project they have the opportunity to go to State, top 5 for online tests. Palisade had the most students that qualified for State, a huge accomplishment for the club. “I am happy to say I took first in districts and hope to go all the way to nationals,” says junior Trevor Rund, “I just love being a part of FBLA.” Trevor is the vice president of PR for Palisade High School’s FBLA chapter. This is his third year involved in the club and his second year doing the “Help Desk” event, which he mentions taking first place in. “Through this event, I get to learn and apply customer service skills that will help me with my current job as well as future one,” he says. Palisade has 26 total members qualify for State, the most between all other schools who competed.
