Even during their off-season, our volleyball Bulldogs are still hard at work and competing through their club season with Mesa Juniors. Mesa Juniors is a club volleyball team designed for good times and fine-tuning of volleyball skills and technique during the off-season. The girls played in a tournament hosted in Woodland Park on Sunday, February 12, 2023. Eight other teams were competing in the tournament, four of which our Mesa Juniors team was up against. None of the other teams were from the Grand Junction Region, however. Our Teal team, consisting of eight girls, our very own Sadie Bunker, Rylin Elsrod, Lili and Lexi Taylor, Lila Huddle, and Emily Hardin, as well as two other members not from Palisade, placed 1st at the tournament this weekend. “Our team played very well, everyone gets along really well and has really good energy. I think our setters did a really great job working with what they were given, that being said our back row and libero did very well on serve receive, and defense. Finally, our hitters did a great job at being aggressive at the net and finding the floor. Our team could maybe work on some minor communication but, that's not to say that we don't communicate well. Our team works together very well and has a good feel to work with on the court. Our middles, Rylin and Lila did an amazing job as well as getting a lot of blocks and really good hits.” says Sadie Bunker, a Freshman from Palisade. Bunker has been playing Volleyball since 7th grade, taking her inspiration from her mom whose high school team went to state. Congratulations to our Mesa Juniors on their win this tournament, and we’ll see you at the next one. Good Bulldogs!
