This past Thursday the sophomores at Palisade High School got to show off the hard work they’ve spent the earlier months. The Sophomore Project is a project that all 10th grade students have to complete every year. It can range from something simple like baking to building complex ideas and designs. The students spend the end of their freshman year thinking of ideas, the whole first semester of sophomore to complete those projects, and a few weeks before the project is due to finish things up. The sophomore project is a way to get the students involved and engaged in something they’re genuinely interested in. Many people decided to do baking or cooking and even brought in their final products, so a lot of food was present during the project fair. The freshman academic mentor classes toured around and interacted with the sophomores to get ideas for their own projects next year. The project is part of the IB Middle Years Program and helps the students focus on their personal interests and developments.
Oliver Shrader, a Sophomore at Palisade High School said, “I think this has just been a really cool way to see what everyone's interests are. I saw so many diverse projects ranging from really cool models and experiments to people trying to recreate family recipes. I think that it’s definitely been a long process since we’ve been thinking about ideas for it since the end of freshman year, but I also do think it's been very worthwhile and fun to see everyone's final products at the fair this year.”
Clearly, the Sophomore project fair was a success and we congratulate all the sophomores on their finished Sophomore projects.
