Wednesday night the Palisade High School Bulldog wrestling team faced Moffat county at home. The night started off rough with the 157 weight class being the first to wrestle. Up first, Lane Holland, a junior at Palisade was pinned giving the other team 6 points. Next was Maddox Caster and his match was not much different than Lane’s ending in a pin. With Moffat in the lead the Bulldogs continued to struggle in their matches until freshman Teagan Young came to the mat. Teagan says “I wrestled really good, I feel like I wrestled to my full potential.” When asked what it is like to be a freshman wrestling varsity Teagan replied “it feels pretty good, it’s nerve wracking because you are held to high standards.” Teagan ended his match by pinning his opponent. He typically weighs 106 pounds but Coach Bill Troutwine believed he could wrestle up and put him in the 113 weight class where he faced someone that was much taller than him. Keyton Young, a senior at Palisade was the only other person on the Palisade said to get a pin against Moffat. With a tough match Keyton came out on top. In an interview with the head Coach Bill Troutwine he says “I think we had a lot of good effort out there, I just think they were a better team, we have a young team and their inexperience definitely showed tonight. The team needs to get more mat time. We are a very young team and to get better we need more experience.” Continue to support you Bulldog Wrestlers as they travel to Delta this saturday the 10th.
