Wrestling has the First Set of Duels

Palisade wrestling starts its season off with a tough duel against Cedaredge, while the team did lose there were some great moments from the athletes. Keaton Young got a pin along with Dawson David. Maddox Caster has this to say about Cedaredge “I got beat by the Cedaredge kid, I just need to get into better shape for Wrestling and the team needs to be more prepared and be walkout ready.” The following day the varsity team had five duels at CMU against Coal Ridge, Montrose, North Fork, Hotchkiss, and . The team won two out of three with everyone having great performances. “The CMU duels were definitely an improvement for the team. Everyone looked locked in and ready for they’re matches.” Keaton Young went 5 for 5, Dawson David went 4 for 5, Maddox caster went 3 for 5, Teegan Young went 4 for 5 and Angelo Guarente went 3 for 5. These were the standout performances over the weekend although all athletes were already showing great improvement from the following duel. Going on in the season the team says they need to improve on conditioning and just their general shape. Maddox Caster said “It’ll go a lot smoother when everyone is wrestling in the correct weight class and is in shape.” And going on in the season there are a few looking towards state and hoping on placing. The team's goal is just to get one percent better every day and control their conditioning. Overall it was a great weekend for the wrestling team.
