Our very own Palisade cheerleaders had a showcase on Monday at CMU. They did their routine for state along with Central High School, Fruita Monument High School and the CMU cheer and dance team. They have been practicing their routing for months and have been adding and changing it since regionals. “I felt nervous yet excited to get the “jitters” out before we actually performed in Denver,” said Alexa Talavera, one of Palisades cheerleaders. Alexa has been cheering for 2 years and this is her first year on Palisades team.
The team is going to Denver this weekend for their state competition. They are performing at the Denver Coliseum. Alexa said “I’m ready for the crowd to see what we have been working so hard on! My hope is that we all have fun and show everyone what we’ve got!” The team is performing in the game day section of state which is more likely what you would see at a game with the cheerleaders on the sideline. Palisade got 2nd place at their regional competition a few weekends ago and since then have improved on their routine and are looking for greatness at the competition this weekend. “Personally I want to improve on my tumbling skills throughout the rest of the season” Alexa stated “I want to build a stronger connection with the team and make a good foundation for people coming in next year and the years after”. Tell the cheerleaders good luck on the rest of their season and competitions.
