As the winter season approaches us, we are getting closer and closer to the holidays, which means Christmas break is just around the corner. Palisade students have been persevering through the last few weeks of finals to get to the excitement at the end. Palisade sophomore Riley Buniger said that one of her favorite seasons is winter. When asked what her favorite winter activity is she said, “I really enjoy snowboarding. My uncle used to be a professional snowboarder, so whenever he is down for winter break, we always go snowboarding together and he will teach me cool techniques.” As said by Riley, snowboarding is a very enjoyable winter activity that is common here in Colorado, along with skiing. There are other fun activities that you can do over the holidays and Christmas break. Outdoor activities include ice skating, building a snowman, making a snow angel, having a snowball fight, sledding, and skiing/snowboarding. Some fun indoor activities involve building gingerbread houses, baking with friends, watching a Christmas movie with hot chocolate, and doing a Christmas puzzle. As for an activity to attend at Palisade High School during the holiday season, Palisade Choir will have their annual Sounds of The Season this Friday and Saturday. This is a great opportunity to enjoy some holiday music and get in the Christmas spirit. Talking about Christmas, here are some Christmas movie ideas for the next time you sit down with a cozy blanket and hot chocolate. These movies include the Polar Express, The Grinch, Home Alone, Elf, Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, White Christmas, Holiday Inn, Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas, and A Christmas Carol. Another engaging activity to do over break is to go look at Christmas lights. But before you go, don’t forget to stop at your favorite coffee shop and get a hot drink. One of the biggest displays of lights is on the 2600 block of Partridge Court in Grand Junction. Another popular light display is at 325 North Ridge Drive in Grand Junction. These lights are in sync with the radio station 102.3. On that note, may you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
