This last Monday, January 23, 2023 an armed robbery was reported and responded to by the Grand Junction Police Department as well as the FBI. The robbery was reported at 5:00pm from the Bank of San Juans, located at 625 Horizon Drive, according to the Grand Junction Police Department. In consonance with the report, the suspect walked into the bank, and proceeded to hand the bank teller a note. The written message was insistent on receiving money from the bank, and the teller then complied. The suspect then began to flee the bank, in what is believed by officials to be a blue passenger car. Authorities do not know what direction the culprits went, nor where they could be located now. The amount of money stolen from the bank has also not been disclosed. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in this incident, and every individual located at the scene was unharmed. Grand Junction PD and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are investigating the incident, with help from the Mesa County Sheriff's Office. Students and families throughout the valley have been nervous about the increase in crime. Zoe Clingman, a freshman at Grand Junction High School says, “It’s hard to learn about the different crimes going on in our valley.” Her mother, Kelly Clingman, works for our GJPD. Sailor Dennison-Kersey, a freshman writer on the Palisade Paw Post also reported a shooting on Patterson last Tuesday. As more information is disclosed, we would like to remind families from the valley to stay safe.
