Palisade Junior, Brandon Palma, is the male Athlete of the Week.
Brandon is on the Palisade cheer team. This is Brandon’s very first year doing cheer and he is already crushing it. He is a base and backspotter. He states that, “I've been doing cheer for six months.” We asked Brandon what got him started in cheer. He responded with, “My friends. They told me to do it but I was kind of nervous about doing it and I decided to just take a risk.” Brandon agrees that he is glad that he decided to join the cheer team because it is a lot of fun. For only doing cheer for six months, Brandon has already made lots of great memories and experiences. Brandon tells us that his favorite thing about cheer is, “how we all work together and try to do different things. In state we didn’t know how to do most of the things that we did but we learned it pretty fast by working as a team.” Brandon was asked what he thinks their best stunt is. He says, “We have practiced some but we are not able to do it yet but it's where we throw a person up and we catch them into a prep.” Brandon’s favorite thing to do outside of cheer is, “Hanging out with my sister and spending time with my family is my biggest hobby. But other than that I try to hangout with friends.” Brandon says his biggest inspiration is, “My parents. They’ve risked a lot for me to be here.” His biggest accomplishment is, “Learning the basics of tumbling and how to carry people and I'm currently working on doing a one man stunt with some of my friends.”
Cheer Brandon on as he continues his very first cheer season!
