Thirteen years since the long-awaited cinematic masterpiece came out, the sequel Avatar: The Way of Water recently released in theaters. Directed by James Cameron, it was worth the wait. Following the journey of Jake Sully and Neytiri’s family that has grown over the years and their efforts to keep them together. Set on the extraterrestrial planet of Pandora, Jake and Neytiri are a part of the Na’vi, a group of indigenous species. Jake is a human turned Na’vi who was a part of “the Sky People” before he found his true place among the people of Pandora. Jake must now help his people save their home against the human race. This sequel follows not just his experience but his sons and daughters as well. I loved the new characters that were introduced into this story and I fell in love with most of them. The 250 million dollars that was spent on this film was definitely worth it; the visuals were so breathtaking and appealing, it looked so real and I enjoyed every second. The story on the other hand was strong in the first half, but fell for me in the second half. This is because I personally am not a fan of long movies, especially movies like this that are three hours long. This movie was one hour too long and it didn’t need to be. I thought the second half could’ve been cut short with the rescue mission involved. That was my only downside but other than that I enjoyed this movie a lot. It was definitely worth the wait and the visuals made up for the downfalls.
