Simi-Finals for the World Cup

As you probably know the World Cup has been going on for the past couple of weeks and is in the semi-finals which is the last game before the championship game. Argentina Vs Croatia, and France Vs Morocco are the teams that played in the semi-finals, Argentina and France being the favorites going into the Semi-FInals. Argentina vs Croatia was a big upset leading up to the game everyone thought it was going to be close due to Croatia beating the favorites Brazil in a penalty shoot off stunning everyone. Mrs. Kemper a social studies teacher at Palisade has been keeping up with the World Cup and has some things to say about the results so far. “I think its definitely been an upset of a world cup,” she said “I really thought brazil was gonna make it all the way and I'm very surprised by some of the other teams that have made it as well”

Everything was going smoothly but a good ball from Enzo Fernández to Julian Alvares gave Argentina a good chance to score and Argentina is awarded a penalty for a mistake by the Croatian goalkeeper Dominik Livaković. Argentina’s hero Lionel Messi missed 2 penalties earlier that game. Messi had Argentina on his shoulders and before you knew it he scores with the penalty shot, it went to the top right corner and it gave Argentina so much passion and determination to win the match. It only took Argentina 5 minutes to break the Croatian defense once again from a beautiful solo play from Julian Alvares who is debuting in his first world cup and has 3 goals. Croatia had good shots left and right but it was not enough to break through Argentina's defense, the game remained 2-0 until halftime. Once again the 22-year-old Julian Alvares scored from a beautiful pass that Messi made, Croatia was not able to score Argentina's defense was too hard for them to crack through.

The France vs Morocco game was very close. France scored a goal in the 5th minute by Theo Hernandez. The game was full of action with both sides creating chances by halftime. Morocco had this beautiful bicycle kick that just hit the post and went out. They went into halftime with France taking the lead 1-0. The second half was full of action shots from both sides, neither of the teams being able to crack the other team's defense. In the 78th minute of the match a substitution from the France team made the final decider, in came Randal Kolo Muan who is debuting his first game in the World Cup not a minute later he score the France team destroyed all hope for the Morocco side, Morocco the dark horses of the World Cup have been devastated with a 2-0 loss vs France. France winning the game at 2-0 put them in the finals where they will face Messi’s Argentina on Sunday, December 18, will France win it again or will Argentina finally win their third World Cup?
