It’s finally that magical time of the semester when our auditorium gets filled with holiday cheer, making our days feel merry and bright. This past weekend, our incredible choir put on Sounds of the Season for the 12th year in a row. The five choirs, Voices, Chantez, Aria, Tenor Bass, and Popular Acclaim, all performed numerous incredible pieces, filling the audience with Christmas cheer. For the first time since the Covid-19 outbreak, the choir was also able to decorate the lobby and put out desserts and a silent auction. All of the parents and past parents provided a delicious spread of cakes, pies, and other desserts, with the students delivering hot cider. The lobby was filled with elegant tables covered in white tablecloths and water glasses. Christmas decorations and trees that the choir and honors society set up littered the space. Throughout this semester, our choir has achieved many great accomplishments. Siena Miller, a freshman here at Palisade, is a member of the Chantez and Popular Acclaim choirs. She has been singing since 6th grade and it is one of her favorite things to do. “Popular acclaim, also known as chamber, is the advanced choir with mixed voices. We have some show choir for some of the pieces, and then also very pretty and elegant pieces. Being in that is such a really cool experience because of all the different grades you can meet, and being a freshman in that class is such an honor. I like getting to look up at all the sophomores, seniors and juniors. It is really inspiring.” Siena was our only member of our PHS Choir that qualified for ACDA Nationals Choir for Junior Choir, which will be in February in Cincinnati, Ohio. She says “It was really fun and definitely the most enjoyable part of the year so far. Being able to sing all of our songs with everyone, like the mass pieces were so good, and listening to all the other choirs is really inspiring. It's just such a good experience to see what the other choirs put together.” The choirs have been preparing for Sounds of the Season starting in early October. Incredible job spreading holiday cheer Bulldogs, and make sure to keep supporting the choir!
