Golden globe nominations

The official Golden Globe Nominations were announced yesterday on December 12th, giving films and television shows the opportunity to win an honorable award. The 80th annual award show will be on Tuesday January 10th. The awards recognize excellence in worldwide films and television shows. “I definitely think award shows are biased,” says Will Neese, a sophomore at Palisade and an opinionated film-fanatic. “They don’t award films based on talent, I think they award the ones that pay the most.” An example of this is the long awaited sequel to the popular Avatar movie, Avatar: The Way of Water. Although the movie hasn’t even come out yet, it has gotten two nominations, one for Drama Movie and another for Director. Other notable nominations include Elvis, The Fablemans, TAR, and Top Gun: Maverick. But why are the Golden Globes so special? Compared to awards shows such as the Oscars, winners of the globes are determined by 93 film critics. Along with that, the event is bigger with food and beverages offered. The Globes also offers more categories, 25 to be exact, including 14 for feature movies and 11 for television. What makes the Globes so different compared to other awards shows is that it also honors television, which is a clear difference from the Oscars who only exclusively honor film. Considering these differences, both television-lovers and movie-goers should keep an eye on these award shows. No matter the award, it is a dream come true for many actors, directors, and everyone with the help of film and television to win. The full list of nominees is followed below:
