Saturday November 19th the Palisade High School Bulldogs took on the Green Mountain Rams in a playoff game for the books. This particular playoff game was part of the Class 3A CHSAA State Playoffs. It was the Bulldogs second playoff game of the season after winning the first round game against the Northridge Grizzlies. The Bulldogs started the game off by receiving the kickoff. Unfortunately the Bulldogs got off to a slow start and had to punt. The Green Mountain Rams were able to score two touchdowns later in the first quarter with Palisade not being able to score any. Not long into the second quarter however Malakhi Espinosa scored a 3-yard rushing touchdown. The extra point was not made for the Bulldogs. They stuck it out for the rest of the second quarter and held the Rams offense, not allowing them to score any points. Going into halftime the Bulldogs were down 14-6.
After halftime the Rams started to increase their lead. The Rams were able to score 7 points in the third quarter and 10 points in the fourth quarter. Junior, Maddox Caster said, “I feel the energy was there for the team and that we were ready to fight even though the score didn’t reflect that.” He felt that overall in the season the Bulldogs started off a little slow but they came through with a strong finish. Caster’s favorite memory from the season was how the team came together during the Durango game even though the score did not show it. The Bulldogs ended their season with five wins and seven losses going 3-2 in league.
