Palisade’s cheer team had their regional competition on the first Saturday of Thanksgiving break at Grand Junction High School. They got Second place in the Game Day section of the competition. Dakota Hatcher (Senior) said, “I felt pretty confident and knew we were going to do pretty well.” He stated, “I was kinda nervous that something might mess up but for me personally I really just tried to think about the next move I needed to hit and made it happen.”
The cheer team has their state competition coming up next weekend in the Denver coliseum. When asking Dakota how he feels about the state competition he said, “I feel good about the state competition, we added some simple things to our routine to make it look better and cleaner. I think if we add everything that we want to and get it down in time, we will do really well and be some hard competition for the other teams.” After state, they still cheer for the rest of the winter season at basketball games. “Some of my goals place high in state, do some hard and high-level stunts, and learn tumbling that we can show off during the basketball season,” Dakota said. This is Dakota's first year of cheer and he said: “I plan on going to college for cheer and as of now I don't know what that college will be but I want to proceed with cheer and keep doing it in college and in the future.” Wish your cheer team good luck this week with their competition and looking forward to the basketball season.
