Last week in North Carolina there was a Christmas parade taking place when an out-of-control driver struck a young girl resulting in her death. Landen Glass is the 20-year-old man who was driving the truck that hit the young girl. As of right now he is facing charges of misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, improper equipment, careless and reckless driving, unsafe movement and carrying a firearm in a parade. Some people think these charges are unlawful because it was not his fault that the brakes in his truck failed to work. Others have dug deeper into the story and say he is guilty. The young girl was walking with her dance studio when the accident occurred. Other young dancers at the studio witnessed the accident and have been traumatized. 6 men stepped in front of the truck attempting to stop it when shortly after it came to a halt. It was said that the man was yelling out of his truck that his brakes weren’t working. Court records show that Glass had multiple violations due to his truck such as improper exhaust systems and no marker lights. He also had 4 tickets for failure to have vehicle inspections. Junior Lane Holland says “I personally think some of the charges he is facing are unlawful.” “I think that brake failure can happen at any time, it’s not his fault and he tried to tell people to get out of the way. Everyone is blaming it on his modded truck but brakes go out whether you like it or not.” Keep the family that lost their daughter in your thoughts as we move through the holidays.
