The Girls first Swim meet went incredibly well as Grand Junction took 2nd overall this Saturday at CMU. The Grand Junction team is composed from 3 high schools in the valley: Grand Junction High School, Palisade High School, and Central High School. The first meet of the season was a relay race to get the new swimmers used to how a meet is supposed to function. The team competed against a few schools throughout Colorado including Glenwood and Fruita. All girls competed in at least 2 relays to give the new swimmers an idea of what competing is like. The team competed in a number of relays ranging in distance and stroke which the girls primarily did very well as this was many girls first meet. The meet lasted for about 2 hours and was done by 1. The whole time the team showed a massive amount of support for everyone ranging from the beginners to the experienced swimmers.
Emily Hardin, a freshman swimmer this year said, “I’ve been swimming competitively for 2 years, but this is my first year for the high school. I think based on our first swim meet the season is going to go very well because our team has a lot of team spirit. I think we will go very far with our enthusiasm and work ethic.”
Their next meet is this Friday and Saturday in Gunnison, so we wish the best for our traveling swimmers to dominate at this meet. Go Dogs!
