This year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction ceremony was a hit. There’s 4 categories, Performer Category, Musical Excellence Award, Early Influence Award, and Ahmet Ertegun Award. In the Performer Category the inductees were Pat Benatar, Duran Duran, Eminem, Dolly Parton, Lionel Ritchie, and Carly Simon. In the Musical Excellence Award the inductees were Judas Priest, Jimmy Jam, and Terry Lewis. In the Early Influences category the inductees were Harry Belafonte and Elizabeth Cotten. In the Ahmet Ertegun the inductees were Allen Grubman, Jimmy Lovine, and Sylvia Robinson. The people in the Performer category had to have made original music that changed the course of rock and roll, the Musical Excellence award went to those whose music has evolved the course of rock and roll. The Ahmet Ertegun award went to those non-performing industry individuals who also helped change rock and roll, and the Musical Excellence award goes to musicians, producers or songwriters who made a huge impact on the rock and roll industry. To be eligible the individuals are required to have their first record released prior to the induction. This is the hall’s first time in its 37 year history that six female acts have been inducted. The ceremony and performances have been recorded and aired on HBO Max, showing the incredible work of those inducted individuals.
Jackson Martin, a freshman at Palisade and a very big Eminem fan said, “I’m really surprised Eminem was an inductee this year because I didn’t think he impacted rock and roll that much, but he’s a great musician that deserves this.”
This is a very astounding tradition that is in the music industry and fun performances to watch when you’re ever in need of a little music.
