Get up and get loud for the Palisade Bulldog cheer team. Palisades cheer team had their first performance last Saturday. It was a practice performance to prepare the team for the regional competition in 2 weeks. Palisade is competing in Co-Ed Game Day which is a different version of the state competition with a few different rules. Dakota Hatcher a senior at palisade and one of the boys on the cheer squad said “I think for the new team doing gameday will be good and really help them grow in the future. We have a new and young team with a new coach and I think gameday will be a good stepping stone for building the new team.” this is what he thinks about regionals and state coming up in the next few weeks, “I'm very excited to go and compete. The team has lots of potential and I think we have a really good chance to win this year so I'm ready to see what happens.”
On Friday last week, the cheer team did a “Little Dogs” performance during the halftime of the football game. Little Dogs is a camp that the cheerleaders put on every year when elementary through middle school-aged kids practice with the high schoolers for a week and then perform during the football game. Alexa Talavera a sophomore at Palisade was in charge of the middle schoolers “It was very fun, I feel like others got frustrated trying to work with the young kids but I personally really enjoyed it. In the end, I felt proud that all the kids could learn everything we taught them in such a short amount of time so I was really happy for all of them.” Remember to go watch the team at Grand Junction high school next weekend for their regional competition and cheer on the cheer team.
