On the night of Halloween in Seoul, South Korea, a massive disaster struck the hearts of many innocent families, little children, teenagers and multiple adults at a Halloween Event that takes place each year, but this year there was a lack of police officers. This disaster quickly became one of the utmost worst experienced tragedies to have ever taken place in South Korea in some time.
Many families don’t have the ability to even know if their children have passed or survived a terrible accident due to them being under the age of 17 and having no sign of any ID. While some families had to witness their kids, loved ones, friends, and anyone in general having panic attacks and then listen to the screaming that was said to last more than 15 minutes. These families didn't have the chance to say goodbye.
In an interview with Andrew Lukesh, he said, “I feel for the people who lost their family members in this accident. I couldn’t imagine losing mine in such a way. I saw this event on a Tik Tok and it was heartbreaking seeing people tell their stories.” Many victims are sharing their stories and experiences with others who don’t know what it was like to go through a traumatic event like this. Authorities have now declared this time to be a National mourning period.
The event happened due to the lack of police enforcement and how big the crowd was. The crowd was surrounded by walls on each side of them and only a narrow path that caused people to start getting pushed and then causing panic. Many tried to climb on top of each other to get free, but this only caused more panic. South Korea as a whole is now taking time to mourn the people that have been lost.
