Kanye West (or Ye) has been in some hot water before these controversies may take the cake. He’s very public about his opinions on politics and race. With this in mind it’s been hard for people to continue supporting him, especially after the recent racist and anti-semitic remarks he’s made. Everything seemed to go wrong when Ye showed up at Paris Fashion Week with his long time friend and controversial conservative Candace Owens. They caused quite a bit of attention as both of them wore matching “White Lives Matter'' shirts to the event. It could’ve blown over but shortly after he went on Tucker Carlson’s Fox Show and defended the shirt's meaning while also making provoking insinuations about Jews. Quickly after this he started his tangents of anti-semitic remarks on social media. After getting his Instagram posts and Tweets deleted he kept coming back to Twitter with more to say about Jews. Then he started saying crazy things about his children’s friends being paid actors and are looking for something much more than friendship with his offspring. This abrupt breakdown caused Kanye’s longtime partner, Adidas, to cut ties with him on October 25th. The shoe company spoke out saying they do not tolerate anti-semitism or any other sort of hate speech. This means that his net worth has completely crashed and he is no longer a billionaire as of now.
Jonas Ashcraft, a freshman at Palisade said, “What Kanye said was not cool or ok, but it’s hard because I still really like his music.”
Although Kanye’s crazy remarks and ways of thinking seem to be getting worse, we wish the best for his mental health and hope to see him get better soon.
