Teagan Young, a freshman at Palisade has claimed the spot as our Male Athlete of the Week! Teagan started his first year of high school by playing two sports this year both football and wrestling. We talked with Teagan and asked how long and why he started wrestling, to begin with, “I started when I was five years old. My dad got me into wrestling because he used to wrestle.” Teagen is one of three wrestlers in his family including his dad and his brother. We asked him if there was another reason he got into wrestling, “I really like the sport, it's fun.” Teagan answered our question, about what he thinks his biggest challenge is in wrestling, “My main struggle right now is not meeting the lowest weight class there is. But I try and get better.” Teagan shared his end goal for the season with us, “My end goal is to improve my conditioning and techniques and try to make it to state.” We asked Teagan which sport he played this year he preferred, “I like wrestling a little bit more than football.” Some of Teagan’s hobbies he likes to do out of school are fishing and hunting. We asked his biggest inspiration for wrestling: "I would probably say, my dad and my coaches.” When we asked him what he would say about his favorite part of our palisade wrestling team, he answered, “Just hanging out with everybody messing around.” Teagan has worked hard this season along with the whole wrestling team. Make sure you go to their tournaments and support our classmates this season!
