The event takes place every four years. In fact, it brings together the best international teams in the game to compete and to determine the world champion. It is an event that sees memorable teams and iconic players. On Sunday, November 20, the 2022 men's World Cup in Qatar will start with the starting game being Qatar vs Ecuador at 9am. The 2022 FIFA World Cup is an international association football championship contested by national teams. It is scheduled to take place in Qatar from 20 November to 18 December 2022. This will be the first World Cup to be held in the Arab world, the tournament is to be the last tournament that will hold 32 teams. Because of Qatar's intense summer heat and humidity, this World Cup will be held in the winter, the first tournament not to be held in May, June, or July and to take place in the northern autumn; it will be played in a shorter time frame of 29 days. The opening match will be between Qatar and Ecuador at Al Bayt Stadium, Al Khor. The final is to be held on 18 December 2022, Qatar National Day. There will be eight stadium used at the World Cup witch are, Al Bayt Stadium, Lusail Stadium, Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium, Al Janoub Stadium, Al Thumama Stadium, Education City Stadium, Khalifa International Stadium, and Stadium 974.The favorites being Brazil, Argentina, Belgium, Spain, Netherlands and Germany. The first action in the World Cup is the group stage, there are eight groups of four teams each. Then comes the round of 16 where the top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage to compete in a single-elimination style tournament. A third place play-off will also be played between the two losing teams of the semi-finals. Nations progress by winning their matches in normal time, in extra-time or via a penalty shootout. The World Cup final has been won via a penalty shootout twice in its history.
