Friday night the Palisade High School Bulldogs took on the Glenwood High School Demons for their last regular season game. The Bulldogs came out ready to play and were not going to let their season come to an end without a fight. The night started off with the Bulldog’s senior night. The Bulldogs have a heavy senior team this year with 18 seniors not including one of their managers. The Bulldogs got touchdown after touchdown eventually taking the game-winning 42-8. Senior, Tyrus Despain, led the team in scoring with a total of three touchdowns resulting in 18 of the 42 points. Seniors Malakhi Espinosa, Rhett Ward, and Phallen Salvati also contributed to the scoring, all scoring one touchdown. The Bulldogs ended their regular season with an overall record of 4-6 and a league record of 3-2.
The seniors dominated the game including senior Tyler Hinton. Tyler Hinton commented on the win against Glenwood saying, “We had a lot of effort. We all had a lot of energy. We all worked together well and we did what we were supposed to.” Hinton led the team in sacks with a total of 2.5 and six tackles. With the win and the outcome of another game, the Bulldogs secured their spot in the playoffs. They will play the Northridge Grizzlies Saturday at 1 pm in Greeley CO. Hinton said, “We just need to have high energy levels and come with effort again. Other than that I think we match them pretty well.” Wish the Bulldogs luck as they head off to playoffs.
