This last Saturday Palisade’s swim season started off with their first practice. The team consists of the three schools: Palisade High School, Grand Junction High School, and Central High School. This year many people showed up and registered compared to years prior. Including 17 from Grand Junction, 17 from Palisade, and 1 from Central. This year they’re competing in Class 4A. Last year the girls had a very successful season and many girls went to state. Hopefully this season will be just as victorious for the girls. Anyone can join, from beginners to pros at swimming. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never swam before, it’s a good way to be part of a team and stay active throughout the winter. Practices are everyday, and yoga/strength conditioning are on Wednesdays to grow your diversity as an athlete.
Leah Talbott, a freshman at Palisade and a member of the swim team said, “I’ve been swimming for about 5 years. The past few practices this week have actually been pretty good, and have been very fun. I think we have a good group of girls and they all seem like very talented swimmers. Hopefully the beginner swimmers can learn their stuff and do really well. I think that this season could be even more successful than last season since we have more girls on the team this year.”
Clearly this season is starting off well for the girls so far. Wish them all the best for this coming season.
