Homecoming is a night to get dressed up in your fanciest clothes and dance the night away. Palisade students spent the whole week preparing for the dance. The students did little activities battling for the spirit bone. Some students battled for the title of Homecoming king and queen. At Palisade, we also have 2 students selected to represent Palisade with the title of Spirit king and queen. After a long week of fun activities, students get to spend a night celebrating.
Homecoming's original intent was to welcome back alumni to the school to celebrate with football games and parades. The alumni of the school were being welcomed back to the community to relive the glory days of high school. Now the purpose of homecoming is to welcome returning and new students back to school. It is used as a week to bring staff and students together. Many people see homecoming as a time to get involved in school functions.
At the dance this year when you walked into the double doors by the aux gym you immediately saw the amazing decorations and heard the party music playing. Students gathered on the dance floor and danced their hearts out. Freshman, Hunter Howard shared his opinion on the dance with us saying “The dance was a lot of fun. I enjoyed being with my friends.” When asked his most and least favorite parts of the dance Howard replied “My favorite part was being dressed up and being with friends. My least favorite part was the music.” Along with Hunter many students said they felt like there needed to be more dance music and less party music. Sophomore Elli Dorr says, “Homecoming brings people together to connect more.” Altogether it seems everyone enjoyed the homecoming our student council put on.
