On the chilly first night of Homecoming week, students gathered in their cars with pillows and blankets galore to watch Napoleon Dynamite at the annual drive-in movie. This amazing event kicked off HOCO week after the Dress Your Type day.
At around 6:30 on Monday night, students began pulling into the PHS parking lot where StuCo had already worked incredibly hard to get everything needed for the movie all squared away. The Student Body had voted on Napoleon Dynamite weeks earlier and once it got dark enough, the show began. A great deal of students showed up to the drive-in, which we absolutely love to see at Palisade. Although many did enjoy the film, if you walked around the parking lot you would find groups of friends talking and laughing enjoying their Homecoming week.
I talked to Brady Russel, a Junior at Palisade. I asked him what he enjoyed most about the drive-in movie, “It was pretty cool to hangout with my friends, especially some I don’t get to see as much anymore.” Brady is a multisport athlete at Palisade and doesn’t get much free time outside of sports, thankfully a lot of our athletes get to take the week to celebrate and have fun. Brady also said he is, “looking forward to the Sports games through the rest of the week and Ruff n Tuff and Powderpuff of course.”
Palisade began Homecoming week on a great note with the drive-in movie and they are gonna keep the ball with awesome spirit days and more amazing activities leading up to the dance!
