Our athlete of the week is a sophomore who plays volleyball, basketball, and track, Addie Ritterbush. We asked her how long she had been playing all her sports, “I have been doing volleyball for, I don't know since like 4th grade, about 6-7 years, and I have been playing basketball for about 8 or 9 years. Then I have only been doing track for 2 years.” We asked her who her biggest inspiration is, “I’d say either my mom or both my volleyball coaches. Coach Wendy played volleyball at CSU and so that has just been really cool to have that experience of getting her to be able to coach us and also our other coach, Coach Kate. She also played in college and got put into her college hall of fame last year. So it has been pretty cool to have coaches like that.” We asked her what had gotten her into volleyball at first, “When I was in fourth grade my mom wanted me to try out for a club team and so I started playing then and that was really fun. And I have just liked it ever since.” We wanted to get her opinion on how the volleyball team is doing this season, “I think we really have overcome a lot of obstacles and stuff because Kyra, one of our best players got hurt in one of our first games of the season. So we have had to adjust to that but I think we have shown a lot of fight and a lot of grit just in learning to switch up our lineups when we need to. And really just like to overcome obstacles like that.” With the volleyball girls having won 8 out of 16 of their games we all know they have a great chance at making it to state. Let's cheer them on in the stands and show our spirit!
