Seniors have a Big Win in Ruff n’ Tuff Volleyball During Spirit Week

During Palisade High Schools spirit week one of the events was Ruff n’ Tuff. Ruff n’ Tuff is when each grade creates one team to play against the other teams in volleyball. The all-boy teams play one game against each other in a single elimination tournament during assembly time. The winners of all grades get to play a final game against the teachers the next day.

The first game of the day was juniors against sophomores. The game was one set first to 25. Both teams went back and forth with the lead throughout the entire game. The sophomores won the game with a 3-point lead against the juniors with the final point being a technicality. Oliver Shrader, one of the sophomore players said: “I'm proud of my team overall, we beat the juniors and almost beat the seniors, and next year it's going to be easy for us.”. He also said, “Some of our biggest challenges this year was not being prepared because in general none of us knew how to play volleyball.”

Seniors against freshmen were the next game that day. With the senior and freshman student section cheering back and forth throughout the game and the score going back and forth the freshman put up a strong battle against the seniors. The seniors won the game with a big lead, the final score being 25-16.

The last game of the day was the winners of the first two games playing against each other. The sophomores had everyone on their toes throughout the whole game putting up a surprising fight against the senior class. With one point left to go in the game Rosendo up to serve for the senior team, he serves an ace winning the game for his team and moving his team to the final game against the teacher's team.

The next day on Thursday the teachers and seniors played against each other. The game was best out of three sets. The teachers won two out of the three sets. The teachers won the first and the last set with the seniors winning the second.
