Breathe in, breathe out, and just keep running. Running a 5k may seem easy, but under 20 minutes? Well that’s a breeze for senior Zennon Reece. Last Friday on September 30, Zennon won first place at Fruita’s annual Anna Banana Race. He rushed through the rough terrain full of hills and dirt, showcasing Palisade with first place for Varsity boys and a time of 17:22:01. The team wasn’t prepared for the heavy rain that fell while they raced, which made the course even more difficult. “It was good, it was a harder course and it definitely challenged me,” says freshman Amy Talbott, “I just love to run.” As a new addition to the team, Amy loves every part of the sport. Running since middle school, she hopes to continue Cross Country throughout high school. “Cross Country has been good and I’ve definitely improved a lot.” Cross Country only has a few more meets before the end of their season, so we wish them the best of luck. This Thursday they will be running at Lincoln Park. The Boys Varsity results include Zenon Reece (17:22:01), Quintin Motter (19:41:79), Keegan Seymour (19:49:71), Dawson David (20:24:70). Brady Russell (21:07:04), and Will Neese (22:13:88). Girls Varsity results include Aspen Johnson (22:02:66), Amy Talbott (23:59:24), Brielle Sorensen (24:54:82), Abby Price (24:59:07), and Kenzie Rewold (26:20:26). JV Boys results include Dakota Hatcher (20:59:70) and Connor Moseley (22:59:74). JV Girls results include Ema Babnic (26:42:90) and Miranda Pike (27:12:39).
