It’s Homecoming time, so you know what that means. Homecoming Royalty. There were many good nominees for the freshman and sophomore court, but only two could win. The final six for the freshmen were Fidel Perales, Justin Swank, Ian Shiao, Lauren Cox, Gabriela Suazo, and Emilia Arellano. In the end, Fidel Perales and Lauren Cox took the crown. “I feel pretty accomplished by winning because I did not think I was going to win,” Fidel said. Lauren explained, “I feel pretty silly, pretty funky, pretty cool. I didn’t really think I was going to win, I thought Emilia was going to beat me.”
There were also a lot of good Sophomore nominees too. The final seven ending up being Brittany Villa-Valenzuela, Braeleigh MacAskill, Morgan Montgomery, Harper King, Blake Larson, Will Neese, and Rowan Ferguson. Though everyone made great effort in running, in the end Brittany Villa-Valenzuela and Blake Larson prevailed and won Sophomore Homecoming court. The two winning Sophomores decided to take a different approach and ran together as friends. When talking about winning, Blake said, “I was really excited when I won. It’s been a lot of fun. Me and my friend Brittany wanted to run together and we were like ‘We’ll just see,’ and then we won. I’m going to be on a float and have some duties during the football game, but really there's not much more than representing the Sophomore class.” Brittany also said, “I feel really good about winning. I feel like me and Blake did really well. I thought it would be really fun to run with him and it was.”
Clearly, four really good people won for the Freshman and Sophomore court and we can’t wait to see them represent their classes this year.
