Palisade Senior, Tyrus Despain, is the male athlete of the week brought to you by Palisade Dino Mart. Tyrus plays football and he wrestles. He has had a great season so far in football with a total of 19 solo tackles and 37 total tackles during the season. He has 129 yards including receiving and rushing. In their last game against Summit High School, Tyrus had 2 field goal blocks, 2 solo tackles, and 4 total tackles. He plays free safety, wide receiver, and outside linebacker. Tyrus started playing football in first grade. Tyrus said, “Me and my friends kind of just wanted to try it out and that is how we kind of met.” No high school student can get through any high school sport by themself. Tyrus said, “My mom is my greatest inspiration. She is always there for me and she is just the best.” When asked what his greatest accomplishment is overall he said, “For wrestling my greatest accomplishment is going to state. For football it would be building the family that we have and the brotherhood.” Tyrus is on his last ride of high school sports. Tyrus isn’t really thinking about playing college football, but he wants to continue his wrestling career. He is considering CMU or some other colleges out of state that he has been looking at. Tyrus has had a great 4 years of high school building great relationships with coaches and players. Wish Tyrus luck as he finishes his last high school days as a Palisade Bulldog.
