Many people love to bake, and many love to eat those baked goods. That’s why bake sales are the most popular way to fundraise. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday our red cross club is having a bake sale during lunch. They’re taking time out of their days to help families that don’t have fire alarms in their homes. Once the club gets enough money they will be going house to house installing fire alarms for families in need of them. Before you think that there’s no need for fire alarms in a home just know that 40% of all house fires that are fatal, a smoke alarm was absent. When you have a working fire alarm the risk of dying in your home is 54 percent lower. What the club is doing is good, they might save lives just by installing some smoke alarms. The students at Palisade can contribute to that by buying their yummy home baked goods. The Red Cross was founded May 21, 1881. Since they have been around they have helped many people. We are lucky to have our own club at our school. Club member Emily Hardin stated “It feels really good being in the red cross club. I'm glad to have a space that I can contribute to for a better cause.” When asked about the bake sale Emily said “I think it’s going to help the red cross because it's going to raise money for fire alarms so they can help people around the community who need a smoke alarm.” The red cross has been tremendously helping people and will always continue to help. Let’s continue to support them.
