On October 14th, the Palisade varsity football team went to Summit High School to play the Summit Tigers. The game was close with a final score of 28 to 18.
As the varsity football team headed to Summit, they knew they were in for a battle going against a 5-1 team. In the first quarter, Palisade scored the first touchdown with a hand-off to running back and senior, Rhett Ward. The team played very well minus the mistakes and errors that they made during the game. In the second half, Summit scored their last few touchdowns which put them in the lead and gave them their win. Even though our team lost, they put their work and effort into the game as always. Vincent Johnston, a sophomore who plays center for the varsity team says, “Our effort toward the end of the game was pretty good but leading up to that point I don’t really think that we did anything very well.” Even though the team lost, they played very well considering the fact that they went up against a very good team. Vincent says, “All week we’ve practiced for one front defensive line and they came out strong. It’s hard to adjust to that but we should be able to easily do something like that.” Even though the team faced many obstacles in this game, they still came through with a lot of their strong tactics. Vincent says that “We’ve done a lot better at establishing our fullback and I think that once we get that going more these next two games, we will be much better off.” Support the Palisade varsity football team as they finish this season strongly, and courageously.
