The Cross country JV championships this … with two runners Brielle … and Dakota Hatcher. At the meet Brielle placed 6th and Dakota placed 3rd. We talked with Brielle a sophomore at palisade. We asked her who the meet was with, “It was against all the teams in the district, Fruita, Junction, Central, and then I think another one like delta who just showed up.” We asked her about her take on being part of the meet, “It was lots of fun, I was not a fan of the course but it was challenging it was fun it was really early in the morning because it was multiple loops around so it was really rough. I really liked it because what I like about cross country is all my teammates cheering for just me and just the team, in general, it’s like really close together and it makes me really happy to be like a family.” We asked Brielle why she had run if she is on Varsity, “So I am actually on Varsity and so is Dakota so then coach had said you guys are gonna run it and we said okay, But I ran it voluntarily because extra practice for regionals, on Thursday at 5 and 5:30 at Lincoln park, I voluntarily ran because we have one JV runner who actually runs JV her name is Mikayla, her hip was hurting, but it was fun I am happy I ran because I got a ribbon and a sticker and it was worth it and my name was announced. I didn’t PR but I ran for my enjoyment like I usually do.”
The runners at the JV meet did a great job and had fun while doing it! We are excited to continue the JV team’s season and Varsity’s race following close behind with State regionals Today at Lincoln park at 5 and 5:30 pm make sure we are there to support our Cross Country team!
