FMS Friday Facts
November 22, 2024
Principal's Corner
Fruita Middle School Family! We've made it to break. We want to wish all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving! Remember that we are on break and there will be no school next week. When we come back, there will only be 3 weeks of school before the Holiday Break.
A reminder that Quidditch Club meets every Friday after school. NWEA testing will take place on December 10th and 11th. And remember, as the great Kermit the Frog said on The Muppet Show: “Just because you haven't found your talent yet, doesn't mean you don't have one.”
**If your student has borrowed a chromebook and charger, they need to be returned ASAP! It is not for the full year. We use these chromebooks daily at school. Thank You!
**Friday Theme for December: Ugly Christmas/Holiday Sweaters!
No School Reminder!
Fruita Middle School will be off November 25-29. The school & office will be closed that week.
Enjoy your break!
Lost & Found
We have a large amount of Lost & Found items that we would love to get back to their owners! Please remind your students to come take a look. Parents can come check it out after school.
19 Road Construction Project
We want to inform you of a road construction project set to begin later this week on 19 Road. This project will include widening the road, upgrading the sewer line, and enhancing utility infrastructure along 19 Road. The construction will cover the area from Highway 6 & 50, extending north on 19 Road, past J Road.
While this work will mostly impact vehicle traffic, walkers and bikers should exercise caution while navigating the construction zone. The intersection at J Road will remain open for most of the project, though pedestal crossings may be impacted as the project progresses. Minimal interruptions to bus pick-up and drop-off times are expected, though traffic congestion may cause occasional delays. Please see the detour map for additional details, or visit the City of Fruita’s project page for updates. Impacted school administration will closely monitor traffic flow and congestion to help ensure that students and staff can travel to and from school safely. We will continue to assess the situation as construction progresses and keep you updated on any changes or issues that may arise.
The City of Fruita has directly notified residents within a half-mile radius—from 19 Road to 20 Road and extending into Fruita to Peach Street—about this project. We understand, however, that many District 51 Fruita-area school families may also be affected. This message is for your information only to help you plan your commutes to and from our campuses accordingly.
Although this is a City of Fruita road construction project, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s school administration office or email the district communications office with any questions or concerns.
Lego League Support Needed!
Can You Help Us Represent the Western Slope at State?
On November 16th, the Fruita Middle School Robotics team, The Live Wires, competed in the Grand Junction Regional Tournament. Our talented team of eight 7th graders achieved incredible results, placing 1st in the Robot Game and 3rd Overall, which qualified us for the State Championship in Denver on December 7th!
We are thrilled for this opportunity to represent the Western Slope on such a big stage. However, we need your help to make it happen! We’re seeking local sponsors to assist with tournament fees, lodging, and meals as eight families and three coaches will be traveling to Denver for this exciting competition.
In appreciation, we plan to recognize our sponsors in several ways, including shout-outs on the school’s Facebook page and mentions in our weekly family newsletters.
If you or your business would like to sponsor our team and support our journey to State, please reach out to Lyndsi Cooney at Lyndsi.Cooney@d51schools.org.
Thank you for your generosity and support in helping Fruita Middle School Robotics shine at State!
