FMS Friday Facts

September 27, 2024

Principal's Corner

FMS Wildcats! We've reached another Friday. Boy, the year is really flying by. Students are currently in the window to complete Interim Assessments. These assessments are a district assessment given twice a year that allows us to compare results with other schools in our System. Teachers will be able to take a look at results and make adjustments to instruction, while also looking comparably to other schools in our system. We are excited to gather data so we can better serve students. Just a reminder there is no School on Monday, September 30th, as teachers will part in Educator Effectiveness Day.

As we move into October, the dress theme for Fridays will switch to "Wildcat Blue". We encourage our students to wear their favorite Wildcat colors. Looking ahead, as we approach the end of the first quarter, we have several extra curricular events happening. On Tuesday, October 1st, Boys Basketball tryouts will begin after school for both 7th and 8th graders and run throughout the week. If you still need paperwork, stop by the office.

We also have several upcoming concerts including Band on Wednesday October 2nd at 6:30PM at the OLD FMS auditorium (239 N. Maple), followed by Orchestra on October 3rd, and Choir on Monday, October 7th, both also at the OLD FMS auditorium. We would like to congratulate the FMS 7th Grade Girls A Volleyball Team for their 2nd Place finish in the District Volleyball tournament this week. Go Cats! Just a reminder that the Quarter ends on Wednesday, October 9th, with no School on October 10th (Teacher Work Day) and October 11th (Teacher's Inservice).

Have a Fantastic Friday!

7th & 8th Grade Boy's Basketball starts next week! If your student didn't come home with a packet from a coach, you can download all of the paperwork on the FMS Athletics webpage Practice begins Tuesday, October 1!

**Friday Theme for October: Wear your FMS or FMHS Wildcat gear or Blue & White!

There is NO SCHOOL Monday, September 30 for Educator Effectiveness Day

The Main Office will be closed

Student Sign In at Home

Students can login to their school programs anywhere! If your student has been on vacation, ill or just needs to catch up on some work, they can login into Classlink/Schoology from home on their personal devices.

Students will go to d51schools.org, click on Students in the upper right corner, then click Login To Classlink. Students will use their D51 username & password to login. They can then go to Schoology to view their classes and check for assignments.

If your student needs a chromebook for an extended absence, they can check one out in the Library.

Parent Schoology Access

Schoology is used in middle school to track students classwork. It is the ONLY platform parents can view students classwork (ParentVUE doesn't show this during middle school). At the start of your student's middle school career, you should have received an email from D51 about how to set up your Parent Schoology Account.

FMS has set up a Parent Help page for Schoology questions. It can be found at Schoology Help If you need assistance with your account set up, please fill out the FMS Schoology Help Form

Volleyball Season Wrap Up

7th Grade Recap: The 7th-grade girls volleyball teams represented FMS with a record that solidified their spot in the divisional tournament. B-team gave it their all on Tuesday night but lost to Grand Mesa in three sets. The C-team got their win Tuesday to secure their spot in the championship round with a bye on Wednesday night. A-team defeated Independence Academy in two sets; making their way to the championship game. Although both teams did not take the championship Thursday night against Redlands, the girls gave it their all and worked as a team every step of the way.

The FMS 7th grade coaches are proud of the hard work and determination these girls had this season!

Go Cats!

8th Grade Recap: The 8th grade girls volleyball team had an outstanding season with early morning practices, a lot of hard work and significant growth. Unfortunately, the B and C teams both had first round losses in the district tournament to Bookcliff Middle School.  The A team advanced in the bracket with a win on Tuesday against Bookcliff.  However, they lost a hard fought battle against the top seeded team, Redlands Middle School, and ended their season with a record of 6-3. Coaches Gale, Murray, and Beach are very proud of all of the teams and coaching them was a lot of fun and a great experience.
