FMS Friday Facts

March 7, 2025

Principal's Corner

Fruita Fam! Happy Friday!

We've made it to March. Remember, every Friday in March we encourage students and staff to wear their favorite band t-shirts to celebrate Music in our Schools month.

It's a short week next week as Wednesday, March 12th is the last day of 3rd Quarter. There will be no school on Thursday or Friday next week. Spring Break starts on Monday, March 17th. There is a choir concert on Monday, March 10th starting at 7:00PM at the Old FMS located at 239 N. Maple Street. The District Wrestling Championships will be on Wednesday, March 12th starting at 4:00PM at Fruita Monument High School. There is also a PTO meeting on that date at 4:30PM in the FMS Library.

We will have a Spirit Week March 10-12 to end the quarter.

As we move into March, we will be running Core Wars for attendance and tardies. The Core with the best attendance and least tardies will win a Friday Picnic at the end of the month. Have a great weekend!

Starting later this year, a service dog will be on campus. Our Nurse has more information in a Service Animal Letter. If you have questions or concerns about this, please contact the FMS Nurse, Shelly Ehlers by March 24, 2025

March is National Music in our Schools Month, so Friday's Theme for March is wear your Favorite Band or Music Shirt.

Have a great weekend!

**Please return chromebooks and chargers that students have taken home. They are to be returned once a student completes the work needed for the time gone. Thank you!

UPDATE

19 Road Construction Project

We have another update on the 19 Road project. The contractor needs to close J Road again starting next Monday, February 18. The closure is expected to last no more than two weeks. It is the same closure as last time. Eastbound traffic on J Road can use J.2 Road to 19 ½ Road or Ottley Avenue to 20 Road. Below is a map of the closure.  We ask that commuters use caution when traveling near the construction zone. Please find more updates at fruita.org/19road.

Thank you for sharing updates with D51 families as we work through this project. We appreciate your partnership!

Please see the detour map for additional details, or visit the City of Fruita’s project page for updates. Impacted school administration will closely monitor traffic flow and congestion to help ensure that students and staff can travel to and from school safely. We will continue to assess the situation as construction progresses and keep you updated on any changes or issues that may arise.

If your student has an interest in this conditioning camp over spring break, please see this flyer.  Conditioning Camp Flyer

Keep up to Date with FMS Activities!

FMS uses a Google Calendar to share information with Families. We encourage you to check this each week in the Friday Facts newsletter for all our up to date information.
