Coach Joe Hites enters his sixth year at the helm of the Vista Ridge Boys Basketball Program. A 30+ year veteran coach, Joe has led high school programs in CA, CO, and OH.
Joe has directed and worked as a clinic speaker at over 135 basketball camps in the past 30 years. He also developed and directs the JUNIOR WOLVES DEVELOPMENTAL YOUTH BASKETBALL ACADEMY for students in grades 3-8 and the POWER ZONE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL BASKETBALL PROGRAM. Their purpose is to provide organized, instructional and competitive youth basketball programs that introduce young players in the area to the Vista Ridge System and Philosophy - and to help prepare youngsters for future success in both basketball and life.
Joe grew up in Port Orchard Washington and earned a bachelor's degree in Physical Education from California State University, Sacramento. He also holds master's degrees in Sports Psychology and in School Administration.
Coach Hites' hobbies include spending time with his family, fishing and exercise. Off the court and out of the classroom, Joe and his wife Karole celebrated their 24th anniversary in December. Mrs. Hites is an elementary school teacher at Pinon Valley Elem. Joe and Karole have two children, Josh (21) and Lauryn (17).
Varsity Boys Assistant Coach
Coach Allen begins his sixth year at Vista Ridge as Coach Hites‘ right-hand man. Storm has either played or coached in the VR system since 2002. As a player at Cheyenne Mtn. High School, he succeeded on both the hardwood and on the track - finishing 2nd at state in the high jump his senior year.
Storm graduated Summa Cum Laude from CSU-Pueblo with a degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion. Coach Allen’s goals include teaching and coaching at Vista Ridge High School for many years to come, earning a master’s degree, and living a full life of service and joy. This spring he also coached the jumpers for Vista Ridge's track team. His interests include BASKETBALL!!!, music, video games, watching movies, lifting weights, and staying healthy.
Varsity Boys Assistant Coach
Coach Blanc brings over four decades of teaching and coaching experience to our wolves family. After years of competing against each other, Coach Blanc and Coach Hites join forces, through a mutual respect and shared philosophies, to make the wolf pack stronger. Most notable of his successes on the hardwood are his 1996 State Championship at Swink HS and multiple state playoff runs and league championships at Pueblo East HS.
Coach Blanc graduated from Glenwood Springs High School where he was a 3-time all-state performer. He still holds the single game scoring record at GSHS with a 54pt effort vs. Moffat County. After High School, Al attended Western State University on a basketball scholarship and earned a degree in PE and History.
Al and his wife Becky have one son and two grandchildren. He enjoys watching and coaching basketball, spending time with family and fishing.
Varsity Boys Assistant Coach (Statistics)
Coach Archuleta enters his fourth season on our staff as an assistant coach in charge of statistics and video breakdown and as a co-director of our Power Zone Elementary School Basketball Program. An Air Academy and CSU graduate and record setting, All-State football player for the Kadets, Gary is in charge of statistics and reporting to the press. Few high school programs have a person working behind the scenes who is as dedicated and driven as Coach Archuleta. Gary is a professional speaker who also works with people with disabilities. He and his wife Karen live in Colorado Springs.
Coach Cassisy begins his third season as our head JV coach. Coach Cassidy never actually played for Coach Hites in high school, but grew up in the CM 'Little Indian' Developmental Basketball Program where he was actually coached by Coach Allen and Kober. Having a former player as the C-Team coach is paramount to player/program development and Connor's enthusiasm and compassion will provide a great first experience for our young high school athletes.
A 2012 CMHS graduate, Connor was a 4 sport letterman After high school, he attended Font Bonne U. in St. Louis, where he played one year of basketball. Currently, Coach Cassidy works with ARC of the Pikes Peak Region - providing services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Connor's goals include coaching at Vista Ridge H.S. for many years to come, and completing his undergrad and teaching degrees in hopes of ultimately becoming a Special Education teacher at VR.
C Team Coach
Coach Dowell joins our staff after serving our country for 13 years as a Security Forces Officer / Instructor in the U.S. Air Force. These life experiences, together with his overall demeanor, knowledge of the game, and core values will be huge asset to our program. Coach Dowell also has seven years of coaching experience at lower levels.
Ryan grew up in Danville Ill. where he played basketball and graduated from Danville HS. After high school, he continued his playing career for two years at the College of DuPage prior to joining the military.
Ryan’s goals include completing a master's degree in Criminal Justice, eventually becoming a head basketball coach and giving back to the community. He enjoys video games, reading and family time with his wife Patsy and three children: Julius (15), Royce (10) and Nysa (1). Mrs. Dowell is a second grade teacher at Stetson Elementary.
Any time you are fortunate to hire former players, it is special. The VR basketball program is unique, with four former players on staff. Coach Quimby is entering his third year in the program as an assistant at the sub varsity levels. Cale played for Coach Hites from 2002-2004 at Cheyenne Mtn. H.S. He is currently working for Cordera Homes. Cale’s dedication and motivation are contagious!
