Friday - 4/22/22
Good morning to our 7th-grade families,
It is hard to believe we only have 27.5 school days left! (Not that anyone is counting... 😉). We have roughly 6 weeks left of school and everyone is starting to get that spring fever! 🌷We are challenging the kiddo's to stay focused and continue to get their work done because we still have 5 weeks of grades to gather before report cards are due. We thank you for continuing to check Infinite Campus for grades & missing work, helping them get to school on time and letting us know when they'll be absent so we can gather what they're going to miss. It all helps us end the year on a positive note!

Registration for 2022/2023 School Year 🏫: Registration is now open for all returning students! Please view this message from Mr. Melamed in regard to placement and registration:
Our staff will soon begin to build classes for the 2022-2023 school year. This is one of our most important tasks to prepare for the coming year. Throughout this process, our goal is to place students in the best possible setting for them to learn. We try to build classes that are balanced in terms of learning needs and styles, gender, emotional and social development, academic achievement, and behavior.
We welcome parent involvement in this process, as we recognize that parents know their children better than anyone else. If you would like to offer insight, share your perspective, or express a need on behalf of your child, we invite you to complete the form linked at the bottom of this letter. Included in the form will be the opportunity to share information you may have previously included in a letter. Be sure to complete the form separately for each child who will attend Park Campus next fall. Because it is very difficult to grant requests for specific teachers, we ask that your insight focus on your child's learning style, significant learning experiences for him/her, and/or the type of teaching style to which your child responds best.
We ask that all information be submitted no later than Friday, April 29. We will use the information you provide, along with input from teachers, to place your child in a classroom that will best meet their needs.
Parent Input Form - https://forms.gle/NHpoy3yft94AxzFP7
If your child will NOT attend Park Campus next fall, please complete the form below as soon as possible. In addition to providing valuable information for the class building process, this information will allow our staff to try to make the transition to your child's new school as seamless as possible. All library books and Chromebooks will need to be returned at the end of the 2021-2022 school year. You will be contacted by a CCSD 46 staff member regarding next steps. Please be aware that a release of records will need to be completed at your child's NEW school in order for our staff to be able to forward your child's records.
Be sure to complete the form separately for each child who will NOT attend Park Campus next fall.

BRIDGES Summer School Program 📝: If your child was eligible for this program, you were contacted recently by the District Office and Dr. Tarasiuk requesting that you fill out a form. If you haven't received such a form and feel as though you should've, please let us know and we can clear this up.

☀️Good morning & happy tax 💲day!
We have been getting back into the swing of things since spring break. IAR testing has wrapped up and we are currently finishing makeup testing for students that were absent. We have a few quick notes and ideas below to review. Please reach out if you have any questions!

BRIDGES Summer School Program 📝: If your child was eligible for this program, you were contacted this past week by the District Office and Dr. Tarasiuk requesting that you fill out a form. If you haven't received such a form and feel as though you should've, please let us know and we can clear this up.
Cellphone Usage📱: Please take some time to chat with your kiddo about using their cellphone during school. The general expectation school-wide is that all phones need to stay in their lockers and should be off or on silent. Many kids are bringing their phones to class, PE, and recess and hiding them in their sweatshirt pockets, pencil pouches, making calls in the bathroom, etc... and using them during class. Moving forward, if a student is found having their phone on them during the school day without permission, they will be given a warning, if it happens again, they will serve a lunch detention the following day and parents will be contacted.
Chromebooks 💻:
Lately, many students have fallen into a trend of having dead Chromebooks. We are asking that you continue to remind them to charge their device each night and bring the charger with them to school each day. We do not have extra chargers at school for them to use. So it is imperative that they bring their own. Also, if their chargers are not yet labeled, please send them to Mrs. Closen and she will assist them in doing so.

🌷Good morning & happy spring break!🌷
We enjoyed seeing all the families that were present (virtual & in-person) for conferences on Wednesday & Thursday this week! Thank you for taking the time to meet and discuss your child's progress this year. Below are a few notes that we wanted to share with everyone that were discussed, as well as a few reminders for after spring break. Thanks in advance for taking the time to read through it all!
BRIDGES Summer School Program: This program is available for eligible students attending any D46 school. This is an opportunity for qualifying students to receive additional support in reading and math during the summer. Our goal for all students is to help them not fall into a deep summer slump and give them the tools to start off on the right foot for 8th grade. If you are interested in your child attending this program, please reach out to your child's homeroom teacher and we will be in touch.
Where: Park Campus When: June 6- June 30
Days: Monday - Thursday Time: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
IAR Testing: Students will be participating in IAR testing starting April 6-13. The test will be with homeroom classes each day from 9-10:30. The tests will be on ELA & Math and will last for 60-90 minutes each. Students need the following:
Chromebooks
Chromebook chargers are required
Wired headphones/earbuds (Bluetooth does not work with the test)
Cellphone Usage📱: Please take some time to chat with your kiddo about using their cellphone during school. The general expectation school-wide is that all phones need to stay in their lockers and should be off or on silent. Many kids are bringing their phones to class, PE, and recess and hiding them in their sweatshirt pockets, pencil pouches, etc... and using them during class. Moving forward, if a student is found having their phone on them during the school day without permission, they will be given a warning, if it happens again, they will serve a lunch detention the following day and parents will be contacted.
(FYI - if students ask to call home, or text mom or dad, we usually allow it as long as it's not infringing upon class time or other priorities, but they really do not have a need for their phones in class without permission).

As we noted in January, kids were experiencing an extreme lack of supplies with pencils, folders, etc... We have taped up many folders and provided many pencils over the course of the year. We're noticing that students could use a refresh on supplies, more specifically, pencils ✏️! Dollar Store sells 10packs for $1.00!

If your child will be missing school after spring break has passed, remind them to check Google Classroom daily and complete the assignments posted.

Good morning families, and welcome to the weekend!
Thank you for visiting our page and be sure to check out the curriculum updates for each subject!
Trimester 2 report cards will be available by the end of next week through Infinite Campus. At this point, students are not able to turn in anything else for 2nd trimester. We have entered into grading for Trimester 3 already. We are asking that you continue to check Infinite Campus, look for missing assignments and late work. Many of these kiddos still need your help in managing their time and classwork.

Water bottles 💦: Just a quick reminder that students should only be bringing water with them to the classroom. We have noticed an uptick in Starbucks, sodas, energy drinks, etc... These special drinks are only allowed during their lunch period. Due to our rooms being carpeted, we only allow water in our classrooms. We have also seen students start to share water bottles. We continue to remind them that this is not a safe, nor sanitary option and that they should bring their own water bottle.

Hello and welcome back to the 7th Grade site,
Thank you for visiting our site for the weekly updates and information! A quick reminder there is not school on Monday for President's Day and we will pick back up with our kiddo's on Tuesday, Feb. 22.
End of the Trimester: Just a friendly notice that trimester 2 ends on February 25th! We have been working hard to help students get their missing work complete and turned in. However, we would appreciate it if you would sit down with your kiddo and look over their missing assignments in Infinite Campus. Almost everything we've done in our classes is posted in their respective Google Classrooms, so students can complete any missing work digitally, then share it with their teacher.
Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences: As many of you already know, Spring Conferences are being held Wednesday and Thursday, March 23 & 24. The district is offering in-person and virtual conferences for families. We are trying to gauge how best to set this up for our 7th-grade families. Please take this survey by Sunday 2/20 to help us decide how to best accommodate you!
Today: we had some fun for Positive Action Day and wrapping up Kindness week. We had 6 classes take part in an escape room and then we played some kindness games. Visit the TEAM PHOTO's page to see some awesome pics of our time together! Tuesday we will be pulling a raffle winner for our Kindness Star Challenge!

Monday -2/14/22 - Happy Hearts Day 💕
Hello and welcome back to the 7th Grade site,
We thank you in advance for reading this update and reaching out if you have any specific questions. We have a lot going on this week at Park Campus. First, we wanted to commend your kids on doing such a great job following the guidelines that the school has set in place; as we see the masking mitigation being lifted, we want you to know that the kids are doing a great job at being kind and respectful their peers.
RAK Week: We started our own 7th Grade Kindness Challenge last week and the kiddos have filled our POD with stars complimenting their peers on the kindness they are witnessing. This led us to RAK Week which Park Campus is hosting this week. There are spirit days Monday-Friday with a Positive Action Day celebration on Friday. Thank you for setting great examples for your kids; from door-holding to lending supplies to helping each other out in class, these kiddos are making kindness more common! 😃
Friday 2/18 is 80's Day in 7th Grade! - We are celebrating kindness by competing in an 80's Themed Escape room in our classes. There will be small groups of kids competing to BREAKOUT! of their escape room before the time is up or they will be trapped in 1986 foreverrrrrr!
NWEA MAP Testing: Map Testing will be taking place February 15 (reading) & 16 (math) for all of 7th grade from 9:00-10:30am.
Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences: Spring Conferences will be the week before Spring Break - March 23 & 24. Conferences are being offered virtually or in-person this spring. You will have the choice to either sign up virtually with a single teacher or visit the 7th-grade hallway and participate in a student-led conference here. The sign-up will be sent out this week via Calendly and will be posted here as well in next week's update.

Good morning!
Wow, it's hard to believe we are entering February already! The past few weeks have just flown by! Thank you in advance for reading this entire update and we request you reach out to specific teachers with any specific questions. Happy Monday!
Healthy & Safety Protocols: We are noticing an uptick in many students not respecting social distancing and mask-wearing protocols. We are asking that you continue to not only remind your child about their need to stay 3ft away and stay masked but also make sure that they have masks that fit their faces and can adjust them if needed. We understand that many students are tired of these requirements, however, we are trying to ensure everyone's safety and ability to stay on campus. We appreciate your continued support in this arena. You will be notified by the 7th-grade team if we notice that your child is really struggling to adhere to these expectations.
NWEA MAP Testing: Map Testing will be taking place February 15 (reading) & 16 (math) for all of 7th grade from 9:00-10:30am. Please let us know if your child will not be here so we can take the proper measures to have them make up their tests.
PTO Virtual Art Night : Join the Park Campus PTO for a Virtual Art Night on Friday, February 11th, 2022. Last year's Virtual Art Night was fun, so we're holding another one! We would like to invite all Park families to celebrate the month of love by making a heart-themed animal watercolor picture. Join us for a guided painting event hosted by D46 teacher Mrs. Sue Funk. Registration for this event is $10 per individual and will include a watercolor palette and watercolor paper. Details with the meeting invite and delivery of materials will be sent via email. Register online by Monday, February 7th at this Registration Link. For questions, please email parkcampuspto@yahoo.com

Good afternoon!
What a frigid 🥶week it has been! However, we hope that you are all staying warm and have a lovely weekend. Thank you for checking in and taking the time to read our update!
This week we sent home a "Grade Check" click here to reprint it if your child has lost it or left it at school. We are asking them to sit down with you and go over their grades. They need to write in their percentage and their letter grade, make a goal for the rest of the trimester, and we need you both to sign it. Please send it back with them on Monday, 1/24!
Next, Spring Conferences will be the week before Spring Break - March 23 & 24. More information is to come in the next few weeks.
Supplies in Short Supply: We are about 5 weeks out from the end of trimester 2, and we're noticing that students could use a refresh on supplies, more specifically, pencils ✏️! Dollar Store sells 10packs for $1.00!
Health & Absences - In terms of absences, please call the school office (847-201-7010) any day that your child is not attending school. The office is working really hard at trying to get in touch with parents in regard to student absences, and your call would help the process immensely. Also, if your child is absent, please have them continue to check Google Classroom for all work they are missing and email their teachers with questions.

Hello!
We are in the final week before Winter Break! Again, that break lasts from Saturday, 12/18-Sunday, Jan 2. We have a few quick reminders below and information that we are asking you to review with your child over the break.
Dressing for the weather: Please remind your child that they need to be coming with at least a coat, if not gloves, scarves, and hats to wear outside for recess each day.
Headphones/Earbuds: We continue to have 50% of students or more per class that is not bringing their headphones. We often use them daily in at least 1 class. Please chat with your child in regard to their headphones. We also recommend that students not bring their Airpods, or other valuable technology with them to school as they might go missing. The dollar store has headphones that can suffice for their school needs.

Have a wonderful winter break and happy holidays,

🍂 Happy Almost Thanksgiving! 🍂
I think it is safe to say that the kids have been working very hard this year and we are all looking forward to a few days off to rest, recharge, and find some time to be thankful. With this no student attendance next week, we are asking you to do a "check-in" with your child on a few different topics we have been discussing here in 7th Grade.
Headphones/Earbuds: These are a required material in 7th grade. We use them almost daily and the majority of students these days do not have them. Please chat with your child in regard to their headphones. We also recommend that students not bring their Airpods, or other valuable technology with them to school as they might go missing. The dollar store has headphones that can suffice for their school needs.
Supplies: It's that time of where students' supplies have dwindled severely. They are lacking pencils, erasers, coloring utensils, and folders. Please review your child's supplies and see what they are in need of to finish Trimester 2. We do not have shared supplies in the classrooms, for health and safety reasons, and we are trying to avoid cross-contact with students borrowing each others' supplies.
Dressing for the weather: It feels as though we skipped autumn altogether and entered straight into winter temperatures! In case you are unaware, we do take a 15-20 minute recess daily, and weather permitting, we will be going outside every day. Please remind your child that they need to be coming with at least a coat, if not gloves, scarves, and hats to wear outside for recess each day.
Chromebook Charging & Devices: Since the rollout of new devices, we have noticed an increase in students showing up to school with dead Chromebooks and missing chargers. Please advise your child to charge their Chromebook EVERY NIGHT. The expectation is that they are bringing a fully-charged Chromebook to school daily. Also, help us help them keep track of their chargers, by having them put their name on it with either a marker or a label.
Phone Usage: This week we reviewed the phone-use expectations here at Park Campus and within D46. Students are to keep their phones off and in their locker at all times. Please review this expectation with your child, as many students have been keeping their phones ON and in their pockets, pants, and sweatshirts. Unless the nurse's office has given a student permission for health concerns to have their phone, we are asking that families follow and support this expectation.
Language: We had a long conversation with the entire 7th-grade class yesterday about appropriate language and behaviors on school grounds. While we understand that many times the kids' intentions are not to hurt nor harm one another, the language some are using in school is inappropriate. This makes others feel uncomfortable. Inappropriate language includes, but is not limited to, cursing/swearing, name-calling, and bigoted language. Students were reminded yesterday that this type of behavior will not be tolerated under any circumstances on school grounds. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to your child's homeroom teacher or one of the building principals.
Thankfulness: We as a 7th-grade team feel overwhelmed with gratitude at the opportunity to work with your kiddos. We are thankful for the plethora of joyful memories and the many laughable moments we have shared with your kids thus far. We are grateful for the chance to have a positive impact on their lives and we do not take that for granted. Thank you for all you continue to do to help them be successful, and the many things you do to make our jobs easier. We cannot do what we do without you! So thank you from the bottom of our hearts. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
